How we’d package Hidden Star and turn the man in the top hat into a cultural figure.
How We’d Approach Your Brand
If Steal Jason owned the strategy and production of the David Drebin brand, we’d start in one place: making Hidden Star a world-class series, distributed at a world-class level.
The Problem We’re Seeing
There’s an authenticity gap.
The David Drebin I met on our call is magnetic, funny, direct, and generous. The David Drebin online isn’t coming through the same way.
The Hard Knocks video is the exception.
That’s the authentic you. That’s the David we want to bring online, and our job is to create more moments like that one, consistently.
So, back to the problem. Hidden Star isn’t getting the pre-production, production, and distribution it deserves. I watched through dozens of the clips:
1
There is no context.
Viewers need a bird’s-eye view of the whole interaction: the moment someone walks by, you calling them in, the first introduction, the handshake, the hello, and the fear they’re facing. By the end, we need to see the star come out. If that arc isn’t clear, the series will never reach the masses.
2
There are no curiosity loops.
The videos don’t set up a question the viewer needs answered, pull on the heartstrings, and then pay it off.
3
There’s no signature hook.
The hook needs to be more deliberate. Hidden Star needs a signature hook question, and I’d suggest testing different openers to find the one that resonates online.
4
They’re too choppy.
They’re cut down so hard the emotion gets lost. The best moments need room to breathe, which means longer videos.
5
The branding feels cheap.
The logo at the end is hurting performance. The best street content feels native, not branded.
The moments are there. The production isn’t capturing them yet.
What World Class Looks Like
Our team has made content for Simon Squibb, one of the biggest street-format creators in the world.
What makes it work: the person is the hook, the subject is the hero, every video has an arc, and the production is invisible, so it feels real.
Hidden Star has all of that, plus something Squibb doesn’t: you. The performance and the energy you bring to the table.
Phase 1
Make Hidden Star world class
1
Pre-production
We sit down together and map out what these videos should be: the structure, the hooks, the arc, and how you’re shown.
2
Production
We direct your videographer, or hire one who can execute, so every session is filmed with context, reactions, and clean audio.
3
Edit with intention
Every video gets a real hook, a title, context, and an arc, edited by our team to the Squibb standard. Nothing goes live without your approval.
4
Distribute it
Hidden Star goes live across your platforms.
Phase 2
Show the world who David Drebin is
Once the series is working, we turn the attention to you. Instagram becomes the home of the full David Drebin: the man in the park, the artist, and the thinker.
More Hard Knocks moments
We pitch you to the biggest street-format channels and podcasts, using the series and the Hard Knocks video as proof.
Your story, your way
Short, sharp sit-downs in your apartment on why you do this, in your words, on your terms.
Uptown and downtown
The collector side and the park side, finally living in the same feed, so the people who love the showman discover the art.
